OK.… I feel like I should write something about this…
The UK was the country I have lived the longest in my adult live, 8 years. I also feel a strong connection become my school system was also British… I admire and respect the country, the culture, its peoples and its customs.
Part of what I teach is a way of approaching information. This approach teaches that we cannot KNOW that being part of the EU or not is better. The fact of the matter is that we all have opinions, and often times REALLY strong opinions about this topic — but in all honesty we DO NOT KNOW.
So… this is how I am treating this historic moment. My opinion is that being part of the EU is better for the UK in the short, medium and long terms, but I do not know it…
What can we do?
Well here are my recommendations:
- Above all, respect the result of the majority, even if my opinion differs from it… I trust the process and therefore its outcome.
- Be active, there is still plenty of time to influence the next steps… everyone is unsure, therefore this is a great time to engage, to voice opinions and participate…
- BE PRESENT and LEARN — you and me… we are really LUCKY to experience such historic events… let us absorb this moment, let us work together to build a strong relationship between countries and people and let us learn from this event so that we can be better in the next chance…
